First, I just want to say I really enjoyed watching Thelma & Louise. It is definitely a favorite movie of mine now. I am not sure how anyone, especially women could not enjoy that movie. If Thelma and Louise were not experiencing such terrible things, I would say I would love to go on a road trip like that, just not to their extreme! They made it look so much fun. In addition, along with all that, the movie was also filmed very well.

The eight clips we were shown have many different qualities from Thelma & Louise. The first clip is during the opening credits. A mise en scene shot of the land that they will soon be driving on. It begins and black and white and soon changes over to color. This change could be a connection to the boring lives that they lead changing over to the colorful and adventurous predicament they will put themselves in.

In the second clip, it is one of the many scenes where Thelma and Louise are driving. The director chose to use dolly shots at first. Then to keep going with the scene, I think the camera was put on the car to see Thelma and Louise and to be able to hear the conversation that was going on between them.

The third and fourth clips are toward the very end of the film. The two of them are dressed very raggedy and very different from the beginning of the film. In the beginning of the film, Thelma was a wife that, at first, obeyed her controlling husband, and Louise was a strong and bold woman who worked in a diner. As soon as Louise kills that man in the beginning of the film, their whole vibe changes, and continues to change.

In these two clips, Thelma and Louise are completely different because of their intense, life-changing experiences. They look worn down and ready to go. It is almost if they are accepting their fate, but in which way? The music in the background really persuades that notion as well. As they drive, closer and closer the music continues beating on. You hear them begin to yell and you see Louise slam on the breaks and the car finally stops at the edge of the cliff. As soon as they finally hit the edge of the cliff the music kind of waivers off. Suddenly, out of nowhere, the helicopter rises loudly and the music begins again with the cops’ sirens going off in the background. They reverse immediately and when they see all the other cops, they stop and try to figure out what they are going to do. Thelma and Louise have changed and it is very obvious, and it is almost as if they just gave up. It is tough for us, the viewer, to assume in which way they are giving up. The director showed that cliff for a reason, but also made them reverse the car as well.

The last four clips are on the movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. This is a 1969 film somewhat like Thelma & Louise. However, instead of being about two women, it is about two men. I am not sure of the exact story, but it seems as if the two men were running from either an enemy or the cops for something that they had done, just as Thelma and Louise had. In addition, the endings were somewhat the same as well. The two men, in the end jumped off a cliff into raging waters.

In conclusion, Thelma and Louise was an amazing film. The friendship theme and all of the humor really attracted me. As crazy as it was I thought the movie was great. Along with the great story, was beautiful filming. I think they picked some amazing filming locations! Finally the films ending, the tearjerker. It was such a bittersweet moment for me I could not help but cry. Plus even that was filmed to perfection! Great movie and great filming.
